旅行各單字的區別

1.「trip」指短途旅行，或在另一地僅度過一小段時間後即返回的旅行。

Ex：
j go on a sightseeing trip to ~ （到～去觀光旅行）

k make a business trip to ~ （到～出差）

l We have been planning on a trip to Europe.（我們正計畫到歐洲旅行）

 

2.「journey」指較遠的旅程，當考慮到旅行的時間和距離時，則用此字。

Ex：
j It’s a three months’ journey.

= It’s a three-month journey.

= It’s a journey of three months.（這是為期三個月的旅行）

k I don’t want to make/take a long journey to Africa.（我不想到非洲長期旅行）

 

3.「travel」是旅行之意義中含意最廣的字，特別用於到遠方或長時間的旅行，多用動詞表示。用於名詞則是make a sea/an air travel 或go on a sea/an air travel。

Ex：
j travel abroad/oversea  （到海外旅行）

k travel agency  （旅行社）

l He has traveled all over Japan.（他已經遊遍了日本）

 

4.「tour」是指類似旅行團的旅遊、觀光旅行。

Ex：
j a guided tour（有導遊嚮導的旅行）

k a tour of inspection（考察旅行）

l I called the travel agency to cancel my tour to Australia.

（我打電話請旅行社取消我到澳洲的行程）

 

5.「flight」是指空中的飛行。

Ex：
j book/cancel a flight  （預定／取消  班機）

k I’ll take a 9:30 flight to Hualien.  （我將搭九點半的班機到花蓮）

l Did you have a good flight? （你這次的飛行還順利嗎？）

 

6.「voyage」多指船上之旅。

Ex：
j take/make/go on a voyage.（出去航海、出國旅行）

k The voyage from America to France used to take two months.

（從美國到法國的航海，過去要花兩個月的時間）

「就業用」&「升學用」英文認證？

GEPT、TEOIC、TESL、TEFL、TESOL，你夠了解這些英文測驗認証嗎？
 

從以前耳熟能詳的托福測驗到最近報章雜誌常討論的多益測驗、全民英檢，您是不是也被這些英文相關的認證搞的一頭霧水？

林林總總的認證，其實可以從用途面去概分為「就業用」或是「升學用」兩大類：

■ 就業：

例如：全民英檢（GEPT）、多益測驗（TOEIC），為證明職場上使用英文能力優劣而設計的認證系統，TESL、TEFL、TESOL尤其是在從事英語教職時會特別需要的一項認證。

全民英檢（GEPT），通過「全民英檢」者將獲頒證書。測驗的對象包含在校學生及一般社會人士，測驗目的在評量一般英語能力（general English proficiency），命題的範圍並不侷限於特定領域或教材。

多益測驗（TOEIC），全名為Test of English for International Communication（國際溝通英語測驗）。多益測驗乃針對英語非母語人士所設計之英語能力測驗，從測驗分數可以看出受測者在國際職場環境中與他人以英語溝通的熟稔程度。

TESL、TEFL、TESOL

1. TESL（Teaching English as a Second Language）是專門在「英語系國家」為非以英語為母語之學生對象，所特別設計之師資訓練課程。
2. TEFL（Teaching English as a Foreign Language）則是專門在「非英語系國家」為非以英語為母語之學生對象，所特別設計之師資訓練課程。
3. TESOL（Teachers of English to Speakers of Other Languages）要於加拿大、美國或其他英語系國家境內， 從事 教授外國人英文為其第二語言之教師執教資格證明。

TESL、TEFL、TESOL皆為英語師資認證或是訓練英語師資的課程，只是在美洲亞洲較多人稱之為TESOL，在歐洲則較常使用TEFL來稱呼。師資訓練課程的目的在讓學員具備教導英語的能力。課程重點不僅在於改善老師的語言技巧，同時還提供教學法、教育法、課程設計等學習，並讓學生實際在課堂內實習教學。


■ 升學：

例如TOEFL、GMAT、GRE、IELTS，為申請至國外學校就讀時需要檢附的認證，其適用的範圍亦有些許差異。

「托福」測驗 (Test of English as a Foreign Language, TOEFL®) 由美國教育測驗服務社( Educational Testing Service, ETS®) 在全世界舉辦。托福測驗測試母語非英語者之英語能力，當您申請入學美加地區的大學或研究所時，「托福」成績單很可能是必備文件之一。

GMAT®全名為Graduate Management Admission Test，由美國教育測驗服務社(Educational Testing Service, ETS®)在全世界舉辦。GMAT比較像是性向測驗，成績只是提供學校預估受測者將來在商學研究所的學術表現。

GRE®測驗全名為Graduate Record Examinations®，係由GRE委員會委託美國教育測驗服務社（Educational Testing Service, ETS®）舉辦的世界性測驗，做為美國各大學研究所或研究機構的申請入學參考條件之一。GRE 除商學以外的研究所申請入學的參考條件，例如文學、電機、化學類科系的研究所。

IELTS (The International English Language Testing System)。至英國或是與英國文化一脈相承的澳洲、紐西蘭或加拿大留學，申請學校時，要檢附的語言能力證明是IELTS，並非托福。IELTS考試有別於托福考試，其試題內容比較活潑生動有創意，最重要的一點是，IELTS考試並不難，但卻能真正的測得您的英語能力，故IELTS考試已在英國，澳洲，紐西蘭，加拿大等的教育系統中被廣為接受。

passed/ past  「過去」是哪種過去？

1.      基本文法說明

Passed 和 past這兩個單字的發音相同，而且也都含有「過、過去」的基本含意，但仍有一點不同的地方。

passed是動詞pass的過去式及過去分詞，所以主要是動詞的功能。它的意思可包含「通過」、「傳達」、「時間的消逝」等等。

past則不當動詞使用。雖然意思和passed相近，但多半用作形容詞、介系詞、副詞和名詞。

2. 錯誤發生情況及修正練習
仔細看看下列的句子，哪裡出了錯？又該如何修正？

A. The past is passed. (X)

    過去的讓它過去。

B. The train has just past. (X)

    火車剛過去。

3. 錯誤修正及解釋正確的句子如下：

這兩個句子是不是讓人覺得非常相似呢？但是仔細看，會發現有個很大不一樣的地方，就在於句子當中的詞性問題。

A. The past is passed. (X)

   The past is past. (O)

     過去的讓它過去。

解說：

在這句裡要把passed改成past。雖然「過去」給人的感覺像是動詞，但是在這句話中意指的是過去的事情是「過去的」不是「現在」，所以is後面是要用一個形容詞，也就是past。另一方面，beV+p.p.是被動式，過去的事情「讓他被過去」，這樣不是很奇怪嗎？

B. The train has just past. (X)

   The train has just passed. (O)

      火車剛過去。

解說：

一樣的這句話的錯誤又來自於詞性的搞混。仔細看這句，如果用past的話，會發現句中根本沒有主要動詞。所以要把past改成passed才是正確的。

序號一般來說只有1,2,3是不規則，其餘都是一般數字加上 " th "

舉例：

1 --> First --> 1st 第一或日期的一號

2 --> Second --> 2nd 第二或日期的二號

3 --> Third --> 3rd 以下類推

4 --> fourth --> 4th

11 --> eleventh --> 11th

12 --> twelveth --> 12th

13 --> thirteenth --> 13th

21 --> twenty first --> 21st (因為1st的縮寫而變成這樣)

22 --> twenty second -->22nd

23 --> twenty third -->23rd

之後類推

24 --> twenty fourth -->24th


直到無限大都可以利用這樣的規則

舉例：

第1021號 --> one thousand and twenty first -->1021st

不變的是後面的規則，前面加上千位百位等等不會影響
