TESL、TEFL、TESOL

1. TESL（Teaching English as a Second Language）是專門在「英語系國家」為非以英語為母語之學生對象，所特別設計之師資訓練課程。
2. TEFL（Teaching English as a Foreign Language）則是專門在「非英語系國家」為非以英語為母語之學生對象，所特別設計之師資訓練課程。

passed/ past  「過去」是哪種過去？

1.      基本文法說明

Passed 和 past這兩個單字的發音相同，而且也都含有「過、過去」的基本含意，但仍有一點不同的地方。

passed是動詞pass的過去式及過去分詞，所以主要是動詞的功能。它的意思可包含「通過」、「傳達」、「時間的消逝」等等。

past則不當動詞使用。雖然意思和passed相近，但多半用作形容詞、介系詞、副詞和名詞。

2. 錯誤發生情況及修正練習
仔細看看下列的句子，哪裡出了錯？又該如何修正？

    過去的讓它過去。

    火車剛過去。

3. 錯誤修正及解釋正確的句子如下：

這兩個句子是不是讓人覺得非常相似呢？但是仔細看，會發現有個很大不一樣的地方，就在於句子當中的詞性問題。

解說：

在這句裡要把passed改成past。雖然「過去」給人的感覺像是動詞，但是在這句話中意指的是過去的事情是「過去的」不是「現在」，所以is後面是要用一個形容詞，也就是past。另一方面，beV+p.p.是被動式，過去的事情「讓他被過去」，這樣不是很奇怪嗎？

      火車剛過去。

解說：

一樣的這句話的錯誤又來自於詞性的搞混。仔細看這句，如果用past的話，會發現句中根本沒有主要動詞。所以要把past改成passed才是正確的。

celebrate the day we were born. Moreover, that extra candle on the cake represents another year of growth and maturity—or so we hope. We all like to imagine that we're getting wiser and not just older.
